Talk
Has he just said, what I think he just said?
The answer is no, that’s the voice in his head
His mind can be troubled, and his thoughts can run loose,
So when he speaks his opinion, it’s not always the truth.
When he’s scared and he’s shy, he won’t say boo to a
goose,
But if he’s necked some tequila, his tongue comes quite
loose,
When he speaks to a crowd, rows of faces, not names,
He speaks slow, he speaks clear, so as to not seem insane.
When he’s courting and trying, to find wit and riposte
He’d rather stay silent than share the thoughts he’s now
got,
When he’s asked for advice by people in need,
He’s careful to answer, so as
not to impede.
When he’s fallen to rage, and
lost all control,
These might sound like truths,
but these are lies being told,
When he’s tearful and mourning,
and his heart cannot bare,
What could he possibly say that
show’s how he cares.
When he is cruel to another,
and it seems with callous and hate,
He is fuelled by emotions, such
as jealousy’s sake.
When he is looking for answers
and pained by his thoughts,
There will be questions he asks
as part of his flaws.
When he is slow and considered,
reluctant to speak,
He wonders if truly, there’s a
friend in that seat,
When he wants to discuss,
something deep and internal,
He is looking for trust, in the
past he has been turned on
When his humour is rotten,
obtuse or obscene,
He is trying too hard to fit in
it would seem,
When the man is a moron, and
won’t accept facts,
He’s not trying to be stupid,
he’s just being slow to grasp
Words are of value, spoken,
written or heard
But there are people like him,
who struggle with words,
He can’t say what he means, so
how can he mean what he says,
He’s just trying to make
explicit, what’s going on in his head
And when he sees that word’s
fail him, in his attempts to express,
Communication is not easy… he
is just doing his best…
Comments:
I wrote this, almost in response to how I felt I was acting myself. I felt like I was being in different situations and not being able to really say what the right things. I think it is a common feeling to reflect on social events and wonder whether we sold ourselves as best we could.
